Makeup Photo! – Automatic online photo retouching

200903240826.jpgStumbleUpon this site just this morning. Makeup Pho.to allows you to upload or retrieve a portrait image from the internet and it will perform a number of image enhancements to that image automatically. The initial touchup will include: “Skin Makeup”, “Eye Makeup”, Teeth whitening, and “Glamour effect”. I uploaded a portrait of myself and the site did an EXCELLENT job of touching it up. It literally shaved 10 years off the portrait.

Once your picture has been touched up, the site gives you several options : you can manually touch up the picture using their online tools, you can simply save it to your machine, or “shared” the picture on the net by allowing the picture to be hosted by Pho.to and the site provides all the necessary http/embedded code to help link to the picture, or you can save to a Pho.to account. The site only supports jpg, jpeg, gif, and png files.

The site is actually a subdomain/application of the Pho.to site and is “Powered by Photo Enhancement Platform from Pho.to”. The Pho.to site has a number of other manipulation tools that you can use to change your pictures. I just think that this one, Makeup Pho.to, is the best.

The other great thing about this site: it’s FREE! This is a great site if you don’t have a workflow process already setup in Photoshop – or are just too lazy to launch Photoshop.

First Look: Amazon Kindle for iPhone

I was going to write about this on my blog as I just downloaded the application today… but I I like the way The Apple Blog put it:

kindleThat sound you heard across the Internet late Tuesday night was every tech blogger on the planet clicking on iTunes to download the new Kindle for iPhone app. This free app lets you read any of the hundreds of thousands of books that are available in Amazon’s Kindle Store. The Kindle for iPhone boasts the following features…

The only two cents I have to add is that I connected both my wife’s 3G and my 2G iPhones to the same Amazon account and we can now share any online purchases. I’ve already purchased Divine Justice by David Baldacci.

Got My Spanning Sync – Get Your’s

save5make5_1.gifFinally got my Spanning Sync software registered. It had been running seamlessly in the background on multiple machines and no one had any complaints (until I let the demo period expire on me – then I heard about it….)

I highly recommend that you get the product if you’ve encountered all the limitations I’ve found in trying to get an easy solution for sharing a family calendar across multiple Macs and iPhones. I like the product so much, I’ve left a permanent link on my blog to save anyone else who is interested $5 on the software (full disclosure: I get the same kick back – not too shabby.)

You can get your $5 off by clicking here!

iPhone, Calendar and Google Calendar Syncing

I have spent months looking for a solution that would allow my family share a calendar, via iCal, on all the Macs and iPhones that are in the house. I’ve tried everything short of writing the code myself — and I was seriously thinking about writing it! Unfortunately life isn’t standing still as I try to resolve this issue so I’ve had to break down and look at some premium services that would allow me to make all my synchronization issues go away.

WHEREWEDOWHATWEDO

Picture 5.pngHere is another one of those sites that has made it to my RSS reader. WHEREWEDOWHATWEDO is a website devote to displaying user contributed photos of where they do the things that they do. I came across this site when I was looking for ideas for my new office design. While a lot of the pictures concentrate on the PC or Mac that is located in the office (I’m assuming that most of the people just live on their PCs/Mac like me…), there are quite a few that are unique and don’t feature high-tech hardware. It’s a wide collection of creative, and some times raw work environments that makes me look forward to each new posting. Do yourself a favor and add it to your favorite RSS reader — If you’re like me, you’ll enjoy spending some time seeing where people do the things that they do.
