Time Machine and OpenDNS

A little Googling around and I found Ben Lam’s blog Mac OS X Leopard & Tiger Dual Boot . … In my case, I have too many Macs in the house to be running around and setting local host files, or ensuring that all of them are tied to a Time Machine drive.

Got up this morning and noticed that Little Snitch had blocked automountd from connecting to Backups.backupdb:

A little Googling around and I found Ben Lam’s blog Mac OS X Leopard & Tiger Dual Boot. Ben wrote an article detailing exactly the same situation: Automountd trying to connect to Backups.backupdb. Read the article for details on some possible solutions.

In my case, I have too many Macs in the house to be running around and setting local host files, or ensuring that all of them are tied to a Time Machine drive. For me, it’s just easier to modify OpenDNS to ignore Backups.backupdb. Use this OpenDNS Knowledge Base article to find the Typos setting.
